before the year is out - t-shirt tribute to 2009

i have been enjoying the simplicity of tshirts. just yesterday i forgot my school attire at home so i had to make a lunch-time dash to a place i knew would have something i enjoyed in grey and/or black - urban outfitters. it helps that they had a huge sale :) so i got these pants that fit better than i expected for 9.99 and two v-neck tee's for $24 (both grey - one darker than the other). i like them somewhat loose, and i like them drapey. i ended up wearing them as an outfit to school - rather simple, but loved it. especially with my furry hoody (yet another uo item - a gift from none other than my lover). the only sucky thing is it's way too cold to wear just a tshirt these days, but for the sake of capturing a photo it's a worthy cause :-)

this was my lunchtime attempt at a self-portrait photo shoot. i found a woodsy spot away from others, and sure enough, just as i set up - people. people came. it's a freaking trail folks, let's move it along. they stood there for a long conversation. after pretending like i was taking pics of the 'scenery', i said the heck with it - set up and went along with my business. so what who cares.

my other favorite t lately

my little bro is a tie-dye fiend. i keep telling him i'll open and manage an etsy shop for him. he just has to do all the tie-dying work. he'd rather snowboard. regardless, any orders?

speaking of t-shirts - i found this on style.com and want it. it's by Christopher Kane and can be found on net-a-porter. i can't afford it, but maybe you can :)

kind of embarrassing but i just found out i can post my pics larger than i have been in previous posts. sorry about the teensy weensy pics down below.

dang.

what time is it even? i'm working a tad slower since wes is updating my mac - i'm working from his pc. i won't bash - bashing is so 2009

so the minute i got home today i went into sorting mode and started sorting and re-sorting stuff - like old memorabilia. i found my old diary and greeting cards and letters from friends. i'm such a sentimental person. so much stuff - such little space. it's overwhelming. now there are a few piles sitting here on the floor-ish: to shred, to recycle, to take to the garage, to donate, bla bla bla. can i get any more tired at 2:21 am? sleeping in is definitely part of the plan tomorrow (we're off work till monday - yay!)

well, this wraps it up. i believe this is this year's last post (unless i get a chance to put something up tomorrow). like i said in earlier posts. overzealous.

hope you have a wonderful new years. see ya.

christmas 2009, etc

i've been trying to update for a few days now - too busy being lazy. which was awesome for once. technically, i wasn't that lazy - i read and finished a book. read AND finished. two separate actions. but...

i noticed that people are in such a hurry to tear all the christmas stuff down. seriously what gives. it's like midnight of the 26th strikes and all the peeps in the neighborhood drag their poor little tree out to the curb "where it belongs". anyways. i'm kind of bipolar with my xmas moods. one year i'm happy about it. next year i'm angry at it (not at the holiday itself, what people make out of it - you get the idea). what are ya gonna do.

k. let's get on with it. i like tangents. and i so sorry.

i found a place for the rest of the mustaches from la ray's party. didn't think i'd use them any time soon but the kitchen wall seemed a bit bare. like it was missing a mustache(s).

the thing hanging above it was just an anthropologie catalogue cover i used when making my silverware ornaments. i like how the spray paint left an imprint of the silverware on the ad so i thought, where else better to hang it but in the kitch? not that silverware has a particular tie to the kitchen (hence forks and spoons hanging from my tree). at least not at my house.

christmas was pretty special this year. mine and wes's second one. we've created somewhat of a tradition:

xmas eve at my parents'

my not so little brother

my dad and his box-cutter conveniently always located in his shirt pocket next to the pens and other things. always.

xmas morn at wesley's parents'

xmas day - just us.

my long awaited machine

penny and her comfy spots of choice

well, there were like a ton more where all that came from. i just had a wonderful time with family and especially wes. got so spoiled with spending time with him, it makes me so depressed to go back to work. it's almost unhealthy, these breaks. all at the same time - they make me realize how eager i am to move on to the next steps in my life - out of my 'office job' and everything that's attached to it - and into an 'industry' where i can spread my wings for lack of better terms. how's that for being vague. anyways.

industry might not have been the word, but never mind.

i guess i'm out for the night. thanks again for checking in (i like to pretend that you do). you don't even know.

wes is playing his ps3 (his gift from me this xmas - i got a great deal for it, mk. we're not rich. we're really not). he opened it up and was like "so you really don't care to see me much do you". i was all, "not with that sewing machine sitting on the desk". i like how i make it sound like i'm always going to be sewing. at least not while i'm working and schooling full-time, but i'll post things i (try to) make when i mess around with it k?

oooookay. this is seriously excessive. good night folks.

the best way to spread christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear!!

so as promised - the order of events last weekend in pictures.

first there was ronnie and jessie's xmas sweater party (it's the ugly sweater party to be exact, but i happened to really like some of the holiday wear most thought were ugly:)

wes and i outdid ourselves we thought

like i said...

"yet another party" - poor copper

ping pong

this is my wes. always appropriate.

that was saturday. on sunday, we had the pleasure of attending ms la raye's mustache sparkle party.
me with ms la ray -

loved the little vogue pieces hanging over the oven

wes borrowed some battery operated lights from his dad. perfected his ensemble. it's hard to see in pics, but...

the boys (and i - butting in as youzh) had a phil collins dance-off. particularly the crazy drum build up in "i could feel coming it in the air tonight"

and that was that. now it's technically xmas eve. i didn't work today - did go to school though. today marks the end of all we need to learn in theory. from here on it's practice practice practice. between clients. practice. cancelled appointments. practice. i've been bad though - when we get free time, my nose was in a book - particularly eclispse (book III). i'm trying to get through those like it's an assignment. haha.

anyway - it's late. time to wrap it up. thanks for checking in! i noticed some new followers :) - welcome sister. welcome amber. welcome folks. i hope you made it this far into this post. it's a hefty.

love

james cameron eve

avatar was very visually stimulating.

anyway - i've had a horrible headache all day - pretty much happens every time i go into higher altitudes - so i'm just going to keep it kinda short. very hard for me btw. here's today per my iphone:

we ditched the snowboarding and went to reno instead :) watched avatar there and checked out the biggest little city

now we're back at the cabin :) antoshka's busy doing his homework and we're all watching the donner party documentary. somewhat depressing - considering the context - yet very captivating.

one of the funnest days - minus the headache :)

alright dudes. take care.

careless evening

so nice to know i don't have to wake up for work at 5:15 am tomorrow. just at 7:30 or so. for the mountains this time. my little bro montana is coming with.

--

orders of business tonight. wes owes me a concert (long story :) so we've been looking online to see if any of my favorites (lately favorites and those who were always favorites) have any shows:

the walkmen - tours in europe
beach house - tours in europe
arcade fire - nope
radiohead - nope
animal collective - europe
the national - nope

yeah, no luck. i'm sure there's like a ton more i'm leaving out. can't think straight. i ran out of options. where have i been?! actually, preoccupied with reading and listening to books. so i guess kind of in a cave.

--

order of business #2 - wes fixing my iphone as per youtube university

i dropped my iphone - face flat on the ground the other day - and the front of it looks like that broken glass app that everyone's raving about. except it's a little too real. so wes ordered a glass and is now busy busy busy

in the meantime, i took pics of me in my latest purchase from a nearby consignment shop - this little leather jacket - unintentionally going for amelia earhart.

oh, and finally...penny. she kills me how cute she is in the mornings. she routinely wakes up with me - at 5:15 every morning - and sits deep in thought on the counter, while i brush my teeth and do my regular morning routine. kills me! i keep telling her "penny, no one's asking you to sit here"

i love this pic - i think i'll use it for my header. sometime. later. later enough that you can forget about it :-)

kills me. she's like a miniature bear. i call her bear sometimes. she responds to penny though.

anyways. gotta pack. it's like 1:06 and i'm exhausted beyond words. but mountains. tomorrow.
and wes just fixed my iphone!!!! he's my hero handyman!

see ya!!!
