birthday weekend

today at school: biolaged a low-light for one of my older clients.  such gorgeous results for such an easy technique.

ok.  weekend.
well, for starters, we were all (as in my family) relatively disappointed to find out that vincent van gogh will be featured in de young's second installment of 'birth of impressionism' series, not this last saturday like i had originally blogged.  however, it was still nice to see the work of monet, seurat, manet, and renoir (in other words, the ones i recognized from french and art class).  still impressive (im.pre.seeev-uh).  anton was greeting everyone with a delightful 'salut' just to get a reaction.

coupla shots from that event.

we convinced him that he didn't need a tie dye shirt - he can make them better himself :)

antony shooting people from the window

me and montana (anton) being obnoxious.  drunk by art, i like to call it :)

on sunday, my actual birthday - wes took me out to breakfast at fox&goose where i had my favorite scone (second of course to olya's spelt ones).  can ya tell?!
where he also presented me with my new iphone by actually calling it.  i was so confused because i heard my ringtone in my purse, but i was looking right at my existing phone on the table.  he was laughing because as he often says "i could just see the mice spinning the wheel in your head".  i know - it took me a while to figure it out.  so ya, the rest of the day i took pics with it.

capital park, where we spent a good chunk and saw a quinceniera (sp?).

only in sacramento

we also walked to weatherstone coffee where we spent another chunk.  caffeinated twice!  in one day.  encouraged by husband.  that's a birthday :)

basically - an entire day for us to be together.  we thought about going to sf AGAIN, but then i realized we were going in that general direction for labor day too.  how much SF can one get in one weekend people.  a lot actually.  if we could afford to stay both nights - then a lot.  but driving?  nah.

which leads me to monday, which was my 'twin' cousin timmy's bday (same year, just one day behind me).  so we all made our way out to good old stinson beach and had us what a good ol' day at the beach should look like (minus the obnoxious crowds).

that is all.  goodnight y'all!

sike

i remember when that was a legitimate expression.

yesterday i had very likely delivered one of my favorite cuts - probably because i was living vicariously through this woman who came in to chop off all her hair (yes occasionally i still have the urge).  i had a hay day with my razor.  it was a simple, low maintenance cut, just like she wanted.  but the best part is that she looked so distinctive and beautiful.

wes and i just got back from our neighborhood walk discussing the business of the next couple of months.  it's a toss up.  but very exciting.

anyways, back to my friday night.

september's gonna be heavy

as if i haven't already been delay-ful :)  the monf of september will be a messy one.  aside from my next possible etsy post, i likely won't be updating till like, mid octoberish (unless time permits somewhere between the lines, and/or unless i feel like updating about my birthday or our family visit to see van gogh's exhibition at the de young museum).  i'm at 1377 hours into the program with a deadline of oct 7th as my board date. if i don't finish by then, they might schedule my test months out and i'm not going to have it.  i'm firm on that.  that's my final price.  oct 7th.

anyway, as you know with my hair endeavors, i'm going big or going home.  why else would i switch from a job that has a corporate career possibility to a slow and gradual growth in the fashion/hair industry?  i can't think of a reason. other than a passion for visual boundlessness - in other words, making people look magical.  kind of like sabrina michals or dennis lanni who produce works of art such as

they all look so effortless (aside from the finger wave, haha) and marvelous.  i like styles that seem last minute and whimsical.

alright already.  meet noodle.  i started calling her 'little noodle' and we just decided to keep it as her permanent name.  she's still clueless and i probably always will be as to her name.  we might have to come up with a reward mechanism for everytime she responds to her name.

and how could i post without including penny.  wes took a couple of shots that were just too hard to not post.  yes, i am that person that posts more than one pic of her cats.  BUT.
she knows when we're taking pictures and actually poses.  so WEIRD.

finally, i darkened my color a just a smidge.  not really permanent - i used shades eq by redken, 5c to be specific.  just to give it some vibrance.  i'm more excited for when it starts fading and the blonde comes through again giving it like three different layers of color, like my head is on fire, haha.

i must admit i was so close to cutting off my mullet tail at school a couple of days ago, but i simply cant.  i use it for hairdo possibilities.  once i think of a form i can morph it into, i'll let you know.  but now, i'm just not that convinced i don't need it.

speaking of cutting off.  i must go.  thanks for stopping by!  i know i'm kind of an "absent mother" in these parts, but hang in there.
