red eyes

i've been like a little baby with my my parents' and little bro's move to ohio.  i love change! but my extreme emotional nature makes it a little bit embarrassing :)  i can already see the day they embark their journey across country. the day their car turns around the corner i'm going to be a snotty mess for wes to deal with - frustrating!  my sister said i'll get over it - and i will :)

this was me cleaning today - got distracted by the thought that i have not yet updated - so i took a pear cider and watermelon break and the opportunity to show you my target trench! i jumped all over it the day i saw them at target - last year i snoozed, but not this time, no way.

harem pants - macy's
lace tank - thrifted
trench coat - target
(this isn't really an official outfit - but i did run some errands in it so...)

anyway -  here's the music i've been listening to lately:
1) little dragon - ritual union
2) gorillaz - plastic beach
3) james blake's self titled
4) lykke li - youth novels
5) kino (a mish mash of their albums provided to me by brother bear) - a russian rock band from the 80s, and sadly - the best website i found for them is wikipedia (then again, i didn't look very hard). they're old school, but they made some great music in their day and i remember growing up listening to and loving them.

well that is all y'all.

here's a pic i revisit often that my sis posted on instagram.  my little bro with my niece.  just shoot me.

more dates

thanks to this one, i'm obsessed with dates.  i have them with my breakfast, for snack at work, and over tea when i get home.  that's way more servings than intended.  the girls at work joke that "you'll know when you've had too many" (nudge nudge).  i haven't gone that far with them yet.  the ones at trader joes so far have been my favorite

speaking of dates, wes and i made it to sf ok for our anni weekend. remember last post i said we may be getting sick?  wes was quite the trooper carrying around his fever like it was nothing.  at least i could tell it was a fever - he was hot all over, but insistent on carrying the weekend on.  luckily we weren't doing anything too active, just reading at the beach and such.

we did some walking around union square, i was determined to find a 'trench' or something warm to wear to the florence and the machine concert on sunday night. trench tho? what was i thinking - stores don't sell those types of things any more this season.  i ended up getting super lucky buying vintage since they don't care what's in season - they put out everything always.  i got two military coats for an amazing deal at clothes contact off of valencia where they sell vintage by the pound.

sunday morn - we went to tartine bakery for their breakfast pastries.  wes even wanted to - swear i didn't force him.  if you remember, he wasn't initially a big fan.  he was surprised to have a simple chocolate croissant and that they didn't (his words) "taint something so beautiful and simple with pecans or cashews or coconuts or whatever the heck you people like in it".  oh brother.

then at the flo concert some friends of ours just so happened to sit next to us.  crazy!

she put on quite an exquisite show with her flowey dress and prancing around the stage like a fairy.  i get weepy easy so this doesn't say much, but i got a bit weepy at times.  not as weepy as i did at the beach house concert, but nevertheless.

ok - that's all for now.  tomorrow i have a day off - oh the possibilities.

tsbeen a while

since i've been this sick.  after reading a bit and even studying for state board (not to mention the shot of vodka), i found myself on youtube and surfing the web - normally surfing the web overwhelms and stresses me out in a sense because of how much there is to see and know and yet there's so much you can covet/look at/listen to in a lazy lethargic state.  ya know?

anyway - i've taken an ear to kid cudi's sound and am loving it.  here's a performance he did on conan very early this year called pursuit of happiness ft. mgmt:

and a cover of the very song by lissie (un-censored version, fyi) which i thought was pretty lovely as well (i don't promote drunk driving, though - it's in the song a bit:)

sorry - one more.  this is 'canadian girl' by the walkmen.  it makes me want to dance, unreservedly.  i only do that at concerts, and MAYBE weddings if i had a drink or two. the song actually starts at exactly 50 seconds if you want to skip through all the talk:

on another note - i would seriously appreciate it if the cold got here already?  i have purchased a couple of vintage coats over the last couple of weeks, and would like to wear one.  and as if i hadn't had enough to keep me warm, i sense a strong urge to purchase this blanket coat from uo:

i'll sell all my other ones if i have to, haha.  i'll prolly sell them anyway - then i'd be left with no choice. and that is my plan.

that's it for now.  i need to stop looking at screens!!

love ya
