cert of nat

oh hi there!  this is what i wore today, ya know.  i got this insane jungle blazer a couple of weeks back and it is such a great throw-over piece.  i had to wear it of all days taday!

this was my celebratory outfit for putting my career of trying to pass state board to an end.

i got my cosmo license!

so what that it took me three times.

i was starting to think i was going to meet all the proctors at one point, and starting to accept it, comically enough.

i'm not going to ramble about it too much, but i have to tell you that carol (my model) and i thought the waiting room before the test was the perfect setup for an snl sketch.  you have the poor models sitting in a socially acceptable stray jacket, while the rest of us are wearing lab coats.  then you have the announcer lady going through the fifty acceptable forms of ID...using a flip book as a visual.  after like five minutes of zoning out, carol and i were like 'wait, is she still reading off forms of id?'  so if you're using your certification of naturalization, enter CERT OF NAT.  we had a good laugh despite the fact that my heart was pounding in my throat as i'm sure was everyone else's.  thanks carol for all the comic relief.  and for that subtle attempt to help me out, even though it went right over my head.

this is carol

here's what else i've been up to other than giving my husband manicures and pulling carol's hair for practice.

our friend andy had a birthday party

and some other in-betweens i'm sure :) but it's late.  and it's friday tomorrow (woops - today!!) which means i still wake up for work in the morn.

peace!

weekend in sf

friday night through saturday - it just so happens that six years ago we started our romantic relationship.  the wedding anni is in june, but we thought we'd celebrate this one as well. cuz we're cheeeez balllsssss!

anyway, the plan was to hang out in sf all day saturday, but we ended up just going to the embarcadero market in the morning, hitting up union square, and then just heading home via hwy 1 and stopping at muir woods/beach and everything in between.  we ended up at the tower theatre here at home watching win win.  we ended up really liking it.  there were so many things in it that - had they gone in a different direction - would make the movie the 'typical hollywood hit'.  but they didn't.  i think i'm saying that all wrong - does it make sense?  bah, english...second lengwich (sp? jk!).  go see it - you'll know what i mean :)

i basically wore my beloved esprit boots once again.  also i love wearing my drapey coral cardigan.  that's all.  just love it.  especially with shorts - because the drapeyness will draw attention away from my awkwardish legs.

and then on sunday we celebrated my pa's bday - where i thought i would double task and chop off this boy's hair while he felt like it.  btw he reminded me so so much of the kid in win win! character and looks.

what a darling.  he will spite me for calling him that, but i am his elder sister.  just trying to get a head start to an ongoing battle which i'm sure he'll win as i get older and older.

that's it you guys.

much ado

it's been a month - which is pretty disgusting.  so uh.  sorry.  BUT if it serves anything - i've been keeping pretty busy.  i do truly hate excuses.  wes always says 'i don't want excuses, i want performance'.  mostly for kicks, but.  anyway,

there was mikey and alla's wedding (i did their wedding hair!)

more here :) - i like to share way too many - but.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
and of course, how could i forget my epic failure at state board - the practical portion.  if it wasn't for the fact that i spent so much time in school, i'd keep doing hair on the black market.  love doing it, just hate the train wreck that it takes to get licensed.  however, it is what it is, ha!  now i wait for my new date for the practical - just passed my written today.  getting there dudes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

well, no news holds a candle to becoming an auntie!!! i'm so excited - my sister had a sweet little girl named stella and i get to visit with white crow and mary lou at the end of january!  my sister's been so busy i haven't really seen any pics, but they'll be here, just you wait!

anyway - miami threw me off a bit from the christmas vibe a bit, so after my return from testing on wednesday - we went to get a little tree which fit perfectly under my antler chandelier, like it's a tree top!

so good to see your lovely little faces again.

lift

that's what we did with the color of olya's lovely little roots on tuesday.  oh the joys of blond up keep :)  soon, it'll take less and less time, crow.  i'm taking notes on how your hairs behave.

i finally hung the hound dog rug.  it does not belong on the floor with the dust bunnies and the little ladies using it as traction.

done with school - but still keeping busy.  state board is in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS.  i keep feeling sick to my stomach a little bit.  and then feeling too lax.  two extremes.  what can i say - i'm an extreme kind of a gal :)

off to b-e-d.  here's noodle.  being sweet.

christmas 2009, etc

i've been trying to update for a few days now - too busy being lazy. which was awesome for once. technically, i wasn't that lazy - i read and finished a book. read AND finished. two separate actions. but...

i noticed that people are in such a hurry to tear all the christmas stuff down. seriously what gives. it's like midnight of the 26th strikes and all the peeps in the neighborhood drag their poor little tree out to the curb "where it belongs". anyways. i'm kind of bipolar with my xmas moods. one year i'm happy about it. next year i'm angry at it (not at the holiday itself, what people make out of it - you get the idea). what are ya gonna do.

k. let's get on with it. i like tangents. and i so sorry.

i found a place for the rest of the mustaches from la ray's party. didn't think i'd use them any time soon but the kitchen wall seemed a bit bare. like it was missing a mustache(s).

the thing hanging above it was just an anthropologie catalogue cover i used when making my silverware ornaments. i like how the spray paint left an imprint of the silverware on the ad so i thought, where else better to hang it but in the kitch? not that silverware has a particular tie to the kitchen (hence forks and spoons hanging from my tree). at least not at my house.

__

christmas was pretty special this year. mine and wes's second one. we've created somewhat of a tradition:

xmas eve at my parents'

my not so little brother

my dad and his box-cutter conveniently always located in his shirt pocket next to the pens and other things. always.

xmas morn at wesley's parents'

xmas day - just us.

my long awaited machine

penny and her comfy spots of choice

well, there were like a ton more where all that came from. i just had a wonderful time with family and especially wes. got so spoiled with spending time with him, it makes me so depressed to go back to work. it's almost unhealthy, these breaks. all at the same time - they make me realize how eager i am to move on to the next steps in my life - out of my 'office job' and everything that's attached to it - and into an 'industry' where i can spread my wings for lack of better terms. how's that for being vague. anyways.

industry might not have been the word, but never mind.

i guess i'm out for the night. thanks again for checking in (i like to pretend that you do). you don't even know.

wes is playing his ps3 (his gift from me this xmas - i got a great deal for it, mk. we're not rich. we're really not). he opened it up and was like "so you really don't care to see me much do you". i was all, "not with that sewing machine sitting on the desk". i like how i make it sound like i'm always going to be sewing. at least not while i'm working and schooling full-time, but i'll post things i (try to) make when i mess around with it k?

oooookay. this is seriously excessive. good night folks.
